Yet another episode in the Heavy Metal Nation series, representing the Swiss heavy metal / power metal scene with contributions of some eighteen newcomers (for us) in the field (I also detected some acts on the verge of the eighties thrash metal scene). Most of the featured acts adopt the classical vein of the genre but for my opinion only few stand out from the crowd as the majority of the participating acts are of an average standard. Most of this can be addressed to the fact that a good lot of the bands are musically in connection with what we regard as the typical German sound. Most interesting acts of the compilation are Dysteria, Soul Line, Bulwark (strange one man project), Total Annihilation (old school speed thrash metal) and November 7 (the Swiss Evanescence?). As usual with this kind of compilation, it mainly depends on your opinion about the genre highlightened and all in all «Heavy Metal Nation IV» is a very nice survey of the current Swiss heavy metal scene.
